Have you ever used the Tangle Teezer or the Tangle Tamer? If so, how do they compare with this brush? I love the Tangle Tamer because it detangles so quickly and easily, but I'm afraid that it might be damaging my hair.

i tried to do this one time by a "natural hair stylist' and it came out NOTHING like it...that among other things made me go back to relaxing my hair. :/

Thanks so much for your comment! And I'm glad you got something out of the article. It feels good knowing that someone out there can relate to my hair experiences :-) As far as my hair length, that's an interesting question... if you take a look at My Journey [http://www.coilyhair.com/ca...], you'll see that it has truly been a journey, lol. I have tried everything under the sun on my hair to experiment and test the limits of my hair.

Last year, I decided to take a step back from length watching to focus on the health of my hair. So that's where I'm at now. It's not about trying to grow my hair long and doing everything under the sun to make that happen. It's about caring for the hair on my head and being grateful for the length that I have, and maintaining it. So that's a snippet of my journey. Living with
natural hair just means that--living with natural hair.

Thank you so much for sharing. I found your article really interesting and can relate to so much you've said. The brush thing just confirmed my suspicions that I really wasn't helping my hair with such raved-about implements.

Couldn't help wondering, if your shorter style is due to past damage and therefore explains the length after 12 years of learning. Is this the case or partly or just a choice of a shorter crop? (I'd appreciate your honesty)

I recall being tired of relaxers and went to a shop for a straw set and the stylist told me i HAD to get a relaxer for the straw set to look right. hind sight is 20/20. Not that I am 100% natural, i know better and do better. This style is all that and them some. It looks really cute on the girl too!

The Opt in for consultation note is very good advice. Sometimes, women may be hesitant to do so as they may come off as too forward, but it is necessary to make sure your hair is taken good care of.
Some good natural hair salons will recommend a consultation before they style your hair as well.
